Greetings from the Bully Busters!

Fri, 11/10/2017 - 9:36pm

The Bully Busters are doing lots of fun and empowering lessons with our star students! In kindergarten, we learned how to be a good friend and practiced identifying characteristics of being a good friend in the book, Chrysanthemum. In first grade, we discussed the difference between tattling vs. telling with a story called, A Bad Case of the Tattle Tongue. In second grade, students practiced the “Golden Rule” – treating others the way you want to be treated. In third grade, we reviewed the 3 key players in a bullying situation (Target, Bully, Bystander) and what bullying really entails. In fourth grade, we read the story, Mr. Peabody’s Apple, which highlighted how fast rumors spread and that we must THINK before we speak. Finally, in fifth grade, students learned about indirect bullying and how it can affect students. Together, we are making Fulton Elementary a fun and safe place to be!

Some teachers may choose to hold meetings on Wednesday, Nov. 22. Once the sign-up process has begun, parents will see the times available. Conferences will be held with homeroom teachers. Information about your child's progress in mathematics will be shared through the homeroom teacher as well. While this is the only formal conference schedule this year, you may always contact your child’s teacher to request a parent-teacher conference at any time to discuss your child’s progress.

Pennies for Puerto Rico

Fri, 11/10/2017 - 8:34pm

During Hispanic Heritage month, the Fulton community participated in a PTA sponsored collection, Pennies for Puerto Rico. Throughout the week of the collection, students learned facts about Puerto Rico during the morning announcements. When students learned that Puerto Rico was struggling to rebuild after Hurricane Maria, they were eager to help in any way possible. Students were encouraged to contribute whatever amount they could, but also knew that it was okay if they could not donate at this time. Many families helped to kickoff our collection during our Fall Festival on Friday October 13th.
